How to get the Swedish drivers licence

If you have a licence from a country within the EES-area (Belgien, Bulgarien, Cypern, Danmark, Estland, Finland, Frankrike, Grekland, Irland, Island, Italien, Liechtenstein, Litauen, Luxemburg, Malta, Nederländerna, Norge, Polen, Portugal, Rumänien, Slovakien, Slovenien, Spanien, Storbrittanien, Tjeckien, Tyskland, Ungern,Österrike) you can exchange your licence into a Swedish licence.
Otherwise you need to do a new test in Sweden.
1. Make sure you have a valid Swedish ID-card
You have to certify your identity when taking the eye test, riskcourses, and at the theory and driving tests.
2. Get a learners permit
Apply at Transportstyrelsen. Durgés can help you arrange the eye test during our office hours.
Even if you have a licence from other country outside the EES-aera you will need to apply for a learners permit.
3. Get a proper education

If you have in mind to practice-drive under private arrangements, you need a supervisor with a permit in order. You must also complete a special introduction course.
4. Risk training is compulsory and consists of two parts
Risktraining Part 1
Part 1 concerns risk behavior, tiredness and drugs.
Risktraining Part 2
Part 2 concerns speed, safety and driving in special conditions. (Slippery road experience) Arranged at Stora Holm AB.
Remember: There is no need to participate Risk Part 1 before the Risk Part 2. The courses are independent from each other.

5. When you are done with the education it´s time to book an appointment for the driving test.
Book your appointment at trafikverket.se or call Trafikverket om 0771-171819. The driving test is divided into two parts, theory and practical. You must pass the theory test before you can take the driving test.
A pass in the theory test is valid for four months.
The theory test is available in Albanian, Arabic, Bosnian, English, Finnish, Croatian, Persian, Russian, Serbian, Somali, Sorani, Spanish, Thai, Turkish and German.
